Philly’s Dark Blue are Clockcleaner’s John Sharkey III, Paint It Black/Ceremony’s Andy Nelson and Strand of Oaks’ drummer Mike Sneeringer. In May, the band released their debut 7-inch single for Jade Tree, “Just Another Night With The Boys.” This week they announced their debut full length, Pure Reality. The album is out on October 7th, and was recorded and produced by Philly’s Jeff Ziegler who has sat behind the controls for records by War On Drugs, Nothing, Kurt Vile, A Sunny Day In Glasgow, and others.

If the guitars and pounding rhythms don’t hit you upon first listen to “Here On My Street,” then lead singer John Sharkey III’s brooding vocals will. Sounding like menacing vocal meet up of The National’s Matt Berninger, Ian Curtis of Joy Division, and the Psychedelic Furs’ Richard Butley, Sharkey’s performance is commanding and muscular. Below, listen to “Here On My Street.”
