Local faves Wilbur have been quite busy these past couple months. The comedy-rock quartet collaborated with Satellite Hearts for Philly Tapes Philly’s July installment, played a free show at this year’s MusikFest, and just finished upcoming EP bueno para ti, which is scheduled to be released next month.

As of yesterday morning, Wilbur has made the first single, “cool kid”, available for your listening pleasure. The song is “a platonic tribute” to an area bartender who has seemingly charmed the band with her street smarts and ability to “make [them] stand a little bit taller”. Sunny, midtempo guitar melodies make “cool kid” the perfect track to spin during these last few weeks of summer.

Listen to the song below and snag a $1 download on their Bandcamp. If you like what you hear, be sure to catch the band August 23rd at North Star Bar and September 1st at PhilaMOCA.
