Folkadelphia once again eschews the traditional definitions of “folk” in this week’s session with Cuddle Magic.  Eclectic and all over the maps in terms of genre, the Brooklyn / Philadelphia group recorded four songs for this session that move from pop to avant-garde folk and back again.  Listen and download the set below.

With its debut record Trains and Aeroplanes firmly under its belt, local indie pop / rock outfit Modern Inventors have begun to release a new chapter of material.  ”Selfish Generation” is the first post-LP single, and its super catchy hook and balance between observational songwriting and party-starting arranging will make you listen again and again.  Grab a free copy below.

Local rapper Verbatum Jones stopped by this week’s Key Studio Session.  Over the course of twenty minutes, Jones performed several tracks off of his debut (.winter) LP complete with commentary between each song.  It’s one of the more personal sessions, the kind that lets you really get into the head of the performer to understand what went into to creating the songs.  Check out “Palm Trees” below and get the full session here.

Earlier this week we posted a free download of “Don’t Call No Ambulance” by Selwyn Birchwood, who you may have seen perform at yesterday’s Free at Noon.  The Tampa Bay blues rock musician has released a new record of the same name on Alligator Records, and you can hear several more tracks off of the LP by listening back to the FAN audio here.  Download the studio version of the title track below.

XPN favorites Delta Spirit are prepping for the release of its next record Into the Wide, which will be out on September 9th.  In anticipation of the LP the band teamed up with Noisetrade to share a seven song sampler of tracks, including new tune “From Now One” and Delta Spirit’s entire debut EP.  Download the compilation below and catch the band live at Union Transfer on October 4th.
