The inner sleeve of Johnny Miles’ Everything is Contageous

After a subdued turn on the 2012 album Lost Treasure Found, singer-songwriter Johnny Miles returns to the amplified, rock-out sound that first caught our ear on his latest record, Everything is Contageous. The album – available now as streaming audio on Miles’ website – was recorded in a living room on a laptop with Philly production luminary Ross Bellenoit.

In his email to us, Miles seems pretty amped about the album, noting that “this collection features my most FUN work to date: 12 radio-ready pop songs featuring everything from guitars-bass-drums to cell phones, vacuum cleaners & even the kitchen sink!!!” Three exclamation points, people: this dude is excited.

Teasing aside, the album does sound awesome – and a cut that best exemplifies the hooky songcraft, uplifting energy and the kitchen sink production would have to be “Walls Down Tonight,” which works in dial tones and clinking glasses into mix along with big beats, bigger guitars and soaring vocal harmonies. Check out the album below, and stay tuned for more from Miles; he tells us he’s planning a return to the stage this fall following the birth of his daughter.
