Madalean Gauze, a rumbling rock and roll singer-songwriter from Philadelphia, headlines Ortlieb’s tonight. The 23-year-old Gauze is currently promoting her latest EP, entitled American War, a stunning set of songs she recorded with members of War on Drugs and The Dead Milkmen. Ortolan and Family Vacation are also on the bill for the show. Ticket information for the 21+ is available here.

Last year, a group of local promoters didn’t think Jay Z’s Made In America Festival supplied enough Philly bands for our liking, so they made own festival, comprised solely of artists from the City of Brotherly Love. It was called Made In Philly. This year, there actually are local bands on the Made in America bill, but Made In Philly still returns for round two. Arists in this year’s lineup include Just Beano, Joie Kathos and Sean Falyon. Ticket info is available here.

Rounding out tonight’s list of great shows is Perfect Pussy, who will be headlining the First Unitarian Church on Chestnut Street. The Syracuse punk band is currently on tour promoting their latest album, Say Yes to Love. Tickets for the show can be purchased here.

Also playing:

X at the Trocadero Theatre (8pm, $22-$25, all ages)

Gretchen Lohse at The Fire (8:30pm, $7, 21+)
