This is a big year for Philadelphia’s own Cee Knowledge & The Cosmic Funk Orchestra. Not only did their album drop today, but they’re also part of a special event to celebrate the three year anniversary of The Boom Room, the Northern Liberties studio they call home. The band is a funk and hip-hop group that is lead by Cee Know the Doodlebug, of the Grammy award winning jazz-influenced rap group Digable Planets.

Today, their new album To Life, Love, & Loot was released in stores and can be purchased on iTunes. With songs like “Focused,” the CFO gives its audience a relaxed and chill sound with uplifting lyrics, but it doesn’t shy away from the thought-provoking and political on songs like “NSA (No Suckas Allowed).” If you’re a fan of Philly hip-hop, then the next month will make you ecstatic, since the CFO will also perform on October 4th at The Boom Room’s two day anniversary festival – a two-day event with a stacked lineup include live performances, DJ’s, indoor and outdoor stages, BBQ and is free all day and night; get the lineup here, and check out two tracks from To Life, Love & Loot below.
