While many people are trying to hold on to what’s left of the summer by spending one last weekend down the shore or having a final family barbecue outside, some of us are ready to step into the next season.  Local bedroom project The Ghost In You is certainly ready, releasing a new single called “Ten Thirty One” in honor of next month’s spooky holiday.

With a level of nostalgia equal to Real Estate’s 2011 Days LP, “Ten Thirty One” wraps the crunching leaves, crisp air, warm apple cider and kitschy pumpkins of autumnal suburbia into a mellow, layered acoustic pop song.  From Pollard:

This song is my love letter to Halloween and all the nostalgia and emotions the fall season brings. Inspired by my memories of growing up in my old neighborhood, the leaves changing, carving jack o lanterns, my mom dressing up like a witch, the homemade costumes she made for me and my brothers, watching scary movies, and everything else that comes with the Halloween season. There’s even a nod to “John Carpenter’s Halloween”, one of my favorite movies of all time.

The track will be included on Pollard’s next record and will also be featured on the soundtrack of Honeyspider, an indie horror film that will see a limited release early next month.  For now, get a free download of “Ten Thirty One” below and start planning your Halloween costume.
