Local psych pop outfit Mock Suns have taken a moment to pay homage to the masters, covering David Bowie’s “Starman.”  The track is accompanied by a montage of NASA images photoshopped to include the band members.

Mock Suns’ cover is spacey and swirly, modeled sonically more like “Space Oddity” rather than Bowie’s original “Starman” recording.  Synths shoot across the aural space, led by echoing vocals and warmly distorted guitars.

Listen to the cover below, followed by a video of Bowie performing the song live in 1972.  Mock Suns open for Meddlesome Meddlesome Meddlesome Bells at Bourbon & Branch on October 10th; tickets and information can be found here.
