Peter Matthew Bauer stepped into Miner Street Recording recently with several friends and the folks at Weathervane Music to record a new song and episode for Shaking Through.  Formerly the organist in The Walkmen, Bauer is continuing a solo journey that’s already taken him across continents with his debut solo LP Liberation!.

In this episode of Shaking Through, Bauer discussed the process of recording material (including working with a full band in the studio), stepping out of his comfort zone and re-invigorating his career.  After a couple of days in the Fishtown studio, the Philadelphia resident emerged with a brand new song that speaks to his strength as a solo musician. Shaking Through writes:

… the sprawling “You Always Look For Someone Lost” is a great example of what Pete is capable of. Though sewn together with hooks that showcase his resonant baritone, it billows with textures you might find familiar. Clouds of effected piano, organ, guitar, lap steel and group vocals push forward and retreat as an acoustic guitar charges through the center.

Watch the interview video with Bauer below and then listen to “You Always Look for Someone Lost.”
