Just like science fiction is never really about aliens and horror movies are never really about monsters (fear of the government, fear of commitment, etc.), the new video by Josh Jones – formerly of Univox – isn’t really about a guy who gets attacked with a chainsaw in his sleep. He has a noted fixation with Halloween and recorded the video for “Go Crazy” – a track from his forthcoming LP It’s a Terrible World – in slasher movie style. But like the moody, evocative pieces on the album are sensitive, sorrowful character sketches of a character out of love, the video is a metaphor is a grizzly depiction of heartache, matched well with the closing lyric “I feel nothing inside but the piece that I miss.” Check it out below, and listen to early versions of a couple songs from the album here.
