Local gloom-rock outfit Psychic Teens will release a new 7″ next month on Reptilian Records.  This week we got a preview of the record with “Face,” the a-side of the two-track recording (“All” will be on the flip side).

“Face” is brutal and heavy, announcing itself with a forceful ten seconds of sheer thrash.  But then things get eerily calm on the surface, with singer Larry Ragone’s downplayed delivery echoing Pissed Jeans’ Matt Korvette.  There is a constant feeling of unrest stirring beneath this melodic moment though, and the gothic doom rears its head again soon enough.

Psychic Teens will celebrate the 7″ with a show at Boot & Saddle on November 7th.  Hound, Flag of Democracy and Spectrum Disorder also play.  Tickets and information for the 21+ show can be found here.
