Philly garage rock outfit Purling Hiss will take on Johnny Brenda’s this evening. The band’s distortion-infused sound has made the group a Philly favorite and they have continued to gain a following around the country thanks to relentless touring. Their recent album Weirdon, released by label Drag City in September, has received enthusiastic reviews, with Consequence of Sound saying that it proves frontman Mike Polizze  “to be one of Philadelphia’s best, a tough feat considering the talent bursting out of the city.” For more information on tonight’s show, head over to the XPN Concert Calendar.

Singer-songwriter Orenda Fink will perform at First Unitarian Church Side Chapel tonight.  Known for her mystical musical tendencies, the former frontwoman of Azure Ray has captured her audience with her ambient vocals and spiritual undertones, most recently on Blue Dream, released this year via Saddle Creek Records. Watch her music video for her her song “Ace Of Cups” below. For more information on tonight’s performance, click here.

Shakey Graves, aka Alejandro Rose-Garcia, performs tonight at World Cafe Live. The folk-bluegrass solo artist has impressed audiences with his multi-instrumental abilities and raspy, earnest vocals. He recently put out his new album And The War Came earlier this month with Dualtone Music Group. You can watch him perform “Roll the Bones” live below.
