Philly newcomers Son Little have a fantastic debut EP called Things I Forgot coming out on Anti- Records next month, and they headline a free outdoor show this evening at Dilworth Park at City Hall. Founded by Aaron Livingston, a local singer-songwriter-guitarist who has worked with The Roots and collaborated with RJD2 on the Icebird project, Son Little pushes his creative boundaries even further, dabbling in soul, hard rock, and Radiohead-esque minimal electronica. The band recorded a knockout Key Studio Session this week; download the song “Joy” below and get more information on the show here.

Blazing out of the Baltimore scene in 2010, War on Women is an aggressive hardcore punk five-piece that channels anger over social, political and personal issues into a visceral sound. The band released its debut 10″ EP on Exotic Fever Records in 2012 (it just got a second pressing this year) and will be releasing a full-length on venerable hardcore label Bridge 9 early next year. Tonight they play the First Unitarian Church with Delaware scene heroes Boysetsfire. Tickets and information on the show can be found here.

Philly rapper Sugar Tongue Slim is having a fantastic year, and it’s shaping up to get even better with his forthcoming White Gold: 215′s In the Trunk project. Tonight, he co-headlines PhilaMOCA alongside ever-evolving psychedelic soundscapers Grimace Federation at The Deli Magazine’s 6th birthday party. Along with great music and between-set DJ vibes are drink specials from La Colombe, Sixpoint and more. Tickets and more information on the show can be found here.
