Hailing from across the bridge, New Jersey-based singer/songwriter Frank Cervantes has just released a new music video for his song “Burning Out” from an upcoming album. The song itself has an electronic-indie rock style, which provides a chilled-out atmosphere accompanied by an ethereal keyboard and matching vocals over a nice, laid-back beat.

The video is a whole other beast. In an effort to make it more than just visuals to accompany the music, Cervantes and his band added a narrative element. It follows Frank as an almost comatose band leader, who, by some miracle, is able to perform one incredible song when shocked with electricity. The premise starts out a little silly, but it quickly becomes a commentary on the modern music industry and the objectified lifestyle many artists live today as his keyboard player uses him for profit, even referring to Frank as his cash cow at one point. The entire video can be watched below.

The timing of the release was impeccable, as Frank Cervantes has and upcoming show on Saturday, November 8th at The Factory in Collingswood. The show is free and open to all ages.
