Sturgill Simpson is playing the TLA on Saturday, February 21st, 2015. His recent album, Metamodern Sounds In Country Music stands as one of the best albums of the year so far.

In fact, at the recent Americana Music Festival awards ceremony this past September, Simpson won the award for Emerging Americana Artist of The Year. Currently living in Nashville, Simpson started playing in a bluegrass band, Sunday Valley in the mid Oughts. He took a break from music for a while after moving to Salt Lake City to work for the railroad. After living there for a few years, he moved back to Kentucky to be with his family and his grandfather who was ill. He started his solo career in 2012, and in 2013 he released his debut album, High Top Mountain.
