After Bethlehem Carly Commando and Tom Patterson announced their full-time commitment to Slingshot Dakota by dropping their day jobs and jumping on tour with Citizen and You Blew It!, the newly married duo also put out a new track entitled “Grudge.”  The track premiered on Noisey yesterday, along with an interview where Commando discusses the band’s slow-burn approach to its career.

“We are definitely starting the full-time route a bit late in the game, but it’s only because we wanted to make sure we had a safeguard. I also think everything happens for a reason, and I think we needed to work our other jobs and realize with certainty that we’d rather be on the road doing what we love. We hope to do this as long as our bodies allow us, and as long as people are into it.

Based on the new track, it’s clear the group is still in their element. Filled with grungey feedback, steady drumbeats, nodding piano lines and Cammando’s moody yet poppy vocals, “Grudge” is one to welcome the two back on tour. Don’t miss them play Philly at The North Star Bar in December; head over to the XPN Concert Calendar for more information on the show.
