The Flaming Lips, in all their resplendent glory, performed a cover of the Beatles’ classic on the Conan O’Brien show, and none other than Miley Cyrus crawled from beneath Coyne’s huge cape to help with the lyrics. It is truly an extravaganza to behold. The Flaming Lips recently released With a Little Help From My Fwends, an album of covers from The Beatles’ Sgt. Pepper’s Lonely Hearts Club Band. To celebrate thier 45th anniversary, The Velvet Underground in reissuing their self-titled third album on Nov. 24th but one of the reissue’s previously unheard mixes has come out. “I Can’t Stand It” was originally recorded in Oct. 1969 by the Velvet Underground as part of an unreleased album but this is the first time the song has been released in its original form. Loretta Lynn is still going strong at age 82! The country music legend has just signed a multi-album record deal. Legacy Recordings will release an album of new material next year that Loretta Lynn has been working on for the past 7 years. It’s her first since “Van Lear Rose,” her 2004 collaboration with Jack White. Read more here.
