This week’s WXPN Philly Local show will feature special guest Tim Showalter of Strand of Oaks spinning his own carefully-curated mix of “cosmic folk” jams. “It’s so funny that I put out a rock record this year, but my mind has listened to the opposite,” Showalter says. “I just love listening to spacey folk. I don’t think I’ll make a folk record anytime soon, but it’s so good to listen to.”

During the 45-minute playlist you’ll hear Showalter’s personal hero Jason Molina with Songs: Ohia, as well as Angel Olsen, Hiss Golden Messenger and more. Showalter will also discuss his momentous breakout year, his favorite albums of 2014 and what we can expect from the band’s Union Transfer show on Wednesday (tickets are still available).

Tune in at 9:00 p.m. EST for the show at 88.5 FM in Philadelphia, or stream it from anywhere in the country by clicking here, and listen to Showalter cover Ryan Adams’ “My Wrecking Ball” below, recorded live at XPN for the Year In Review project (listen to more local artist submissions here).
