CRUISR owns the stage of the Tower like it was meant for them

The last time I saw Cruisr (then known as Cruiser) they were the first opener for a show at the North Star Bar with Shorty Boy Boy headlining. There were about 15 people watching their set. Here at The Key we have loved Cruisr from the start, but it is safe to say they are catching on in a big way.

I caught back up with the band at the Tower Theater last week as they opened for The 1975, an English band who makes catchy pop songs about things the parents of their female teenage fan base would find wildly inappropriate. In this setting, Cruisr played to over two thousand people and an eager front row of fans who had pushed their way throw the crowd just too see them. Cruisr owed that stage like they had been playing rooms that big for their whole career.

The band recently signed to Vagrant Records and their set featured both old and new work. It was fun to watch Cruisr win over the crowd: towards the middle of the set, frontman Andy States announced “This song is for shaking your hips,” and the entire audience screamed like crazy. It is obvious that there is no where to go but up for these Philly natives and they excel in the pop music world. Check out the full photo gallery of the bands set below, and catch the band’s all-ages show at The Barbary on January 15th; more info can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
