Download Christopher Davis-Shannon and Tess Emma’s cover of the Louis Armstrong classic “Christmas in New Orleans”

Stylish Philly singer-songwriter Christopher Davis-Shannon is marking the holidays with a free downloadable cover of “Christmas in New Orleans,” written by Dick Sherman and Joe Van Winkle and popularized in a 1955 recording by Louis Armstrong. It’s a swinging acoustic jazz sing-song number with bouncing upright bass and breezy harmonies.

For this recording, Davis-Shannon collaborated with Tess Emma, who is getting ready to release her debut EP on Christmas Day and performing at World Cafe Live’s Mistletoe Jam on December 26th; Davis-Shannon, meanwhile, is debuting his new trio at Boot and Saddle on January 17th.
