Yesterday’s Free at Noon performer Marco Benevento was also featured earlier in the week with his song “Witches of Ulster.” The track comes from Benevento’s new record Swift and showcases his experimental piano-based compositions.  Stream and download the song below.

Local singer-songwriter Chistopher Davis-Shannon has covered “Christmas in New Orleans,” popularized by Louis Armstrong in 1955. The recording is up on Bandcamp for a name-your-own-price so you can get it for free, though proceeds from paid downloads will be donated to Rock to the Future.

This week’s Key Studio Session featured locals HighKick. The band released a new EP called Normal View in June and recorded a bunch of songs for this session, including new one “Nothing Comes After” and an awesome XPN ID in three-part harmony. Get the full set here.

Folkadelphia released its second compilation of in-studio recordings this week.  With tracks from Amy Ray, Dom Flemons, Jenny Hval and more, Volume II is a great sampling of the many corners of folk music that the show explores. Listen to ” and get the full comp here.

Khari Mateen collaborated with his saxophone-playing father Radji Mateen Sr. on “Thinking About You.” In his comments on the song, the younger Mateen highlights his father’s career, mentioning that he’s played with Dice Raw, Scratch of The Roots and recorded for Snoop Dogg.  Check out “Thinking About You” below.
