El Malito and 33rd Century

Okay, so we all know the holidays are stressful. Tensions are high, regularly-calm people can easily snap at family, friends and strangers. That’s normal. But then there are people who take it to a whole other level of bigotry. Philly rapper El Malito had a bad experience along those lines last December, and turned it into an empowering anthem this holiday.

Exactly one year ago during the holiday season my girl and I were verbally insulted with racial and sexist slurs by some lame ass tired redneck. That and a bunch of other ish inspired this song and it’s video. This is “The Pissed Off Angry Voice of Losers.” We ain’t got no time for them, we let ’em fade.

The song – which is pretty damn catchy – is matched with a bright and colorful music video skewing not only the dude in the pickup truck who threatened Malito and his significant other (that story is related in the first verse) but irrationally angry and hateful people writ large; “you doing two plus two, we doing calculus.” Check it out below, and catch El Malito and the 33rd Century tomorrow night at Johnny Brenda’s. Tickets and more information can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
