Johnny Showcase brings his Lefty Lucy Cabaret to World Cafe Live upstairs tonight. The absurdist funk-pop-disco eight-piece will release its new record The Octopus this spring after hosting a successful Kickstarter campaign. The LP comes three years after the groups debut Love Is the Message, which they revisited last summer for the video “Hit It From the Back.” Tickets and information for tonight’s show with Timur and the Dime Museum can be found here. Watch the band perform “The Octopus” live at Johnny Brenda’s below.

Local rapper Lee Mazin will get things started at The TLA tonight with Quilly. Mazin began 2015 with the release of a new video for her track “The Realest” featuring JS. Her other videos, like “Yesterday,” have racked up over 1,000,000 views on YouTube while her freestyle videos show the extent of her talent. Tickets and information for the show can be found here.  Watch “The Realest” below.

Sister City hit Kung Fu Necktie tonight.  Though based here in Philadelphia, the indie four-piece splits time with Baltimore and recorded part of its 2013 record Small Talk in Rockville, MD.  Tickets for tonight’s 21+ show with Man Illuminated can be purchased at the door. More information can be found here. Listen to “Small Talk” below.
