February brings Valentine’s day (dreaded by some) and the sludge of mid-winter (presumably dreaded by most). Luckily, some revered artists and up-and-coming groups are coming through town to cheer us up. Here are five Philadelphia concerts to catch.

1. Jason Isbell @ Keswick Theatre, 2/5

Jason Isbell is no stranger to the area; the singer-songwriter played the Philadelphia Folk Festival in August and performed at XPN’s Free at Noon a year before. The following month, Isbell went on to score a whooping triad of Album of the Year, Song of the Year and Artist of the Year at the 2014 Americana Music Awards. Singer-songwriter Damien Jurado will open. All ages.

2. The Districts @ Union Transfer, 2/14

A sure-fire way to have a good Valentine’s Day: catching The District’s headline UT. Gaining the role of hometown heroes, the four-piece reigns from Lancaster County and will release their first full-length LP, A Flourish and A Spoil, on Feb. 10. South Jersey’s beloved Pine Barons will open. All ages.

3. DRGN King @ Johnny Brenda’s, 2/19

DRGN King, the Philly four-piece that blossomed from songwriter Dominic Angelella, kicked off the year with their distinctive fusion of psychedelic/electronic/pop at the first Free at Noon of 2015. They’ll bring their awesomely-weird stage presence to Johnny Brenda’s mid-February. 21+.

4. Wolf Alice @ Boot & Saddle, 2/26

North London’s Wolf Alice made it to the BBC’s Music Sound of 2015 after proving themselves at the Glastonbury Festival in June (skip to 20:15 of the video below to hear about their intense nerves before their performance). Philly’s in luck, because with just a handful of US dates on the alt. rock group’s list, we’re included. This show will mark the group’s Philly debut.  21+.

5. SOJA @ The Electric Factory, 2/28

Reggae favorites SOJA released their Grammy-nominated Amid the Noise and Haste in August. With eight members, the group fuels on a dynamic stage presence with frontman Jacob Hemphill’s jam-inducing vocals. They’re scheduled to perform at Bonnaroo in June, but will help us draw February to a close at the Electric Factory. All ages.
