Mark Knopfler, the lead guitarist, singer and songwriter of Dire Straits, is releasing his eighth solo studio album, Tracker, on March 17th, and has announced a show that brings him to Philadelphia on Saturday, October 17th.

Tickets to the Knopfler’s show at the Academy of Music go on sale on Friday, January 30th at 10 a.m. His new album, his first since 2012’s Privateering, includes 11 new songs, and features Guy Fletcher on keyboards, who played with Knopfler in Dire Straits. With as many solo studio albums to his credit now as he had studio releases with Dire Straits, there’s no denying Knopfler’s place as one of the greatest all time guitarists. In addition to his classic rock status with Dire Straits, Knopfler has produced and composed soundtracks to several films including The Princess Bride and Local Hero. He’s collaborated with Bob Dylan, Emmylou Harris, Chet Atkins, Sting, The Chieftains, Tina Turner, and more.
