Seven piece funk band Darla make their entrance on the scene a memorable one. Last week the band released its second album Darla Forever! – a multifaceted instrumental blend – and played a lively show at The Fire. Mastermind Michael Morrongiello composes the tunes that evoke a desire to dance; in the track “Sooz Clues,” the guitars, bass and drums shape the structure of the song. Jake Fabian and Will Schade blend their saxophone melodies together groovily. The mixing of the song is done so elegantly; it resembles the retro funk sound. Check out their original tunes below, and see Darla on February 15th when they play Ardmore Music Hall opening for George Clinton. Tickets and information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
