LiveConnections has announced three new concerts for its spring ClassicAlive series at World Cafe Live, featuring musicians from Philadelphia and beyond in a wide range of musical collaborations.

The season opens on March 20th with New York-based flautists Flutronix and local trombone player Ryan Matthews. Flutronix blend the classical nature of the flute with synths, drum machines and soulful vocals, while Matthews expands his Curtis Institute education in trombone to include electronic music production.

April 16th‘s showcase brings together Grammy nominated Jazz pianist and composer Uri Caine and the PRISM Quartet to debut a LiveConnections-commissioned piece for the saxophone group.

And finally, Grammy Award winning guitarist Jason Vieaux joins the Al-Bustan Takht Ensemble for a meeting of Western and Eastern cultures on May 7th. Together, the group will perform the world premiere of a piece by Philadelphia-based composer and musician Kinan Abou-afach.
