It’s something I’ve been saying for years: SXSW needs a Philly-centric showcase, and it needs it in the center of the action. I’ve been going to the massive music industry rodeo in Austin for a few years now, and while there have been well-curated Philly unofficial Philly parties in the past – Yvynyl and XPN’s showcase in 2011, BITBY’s showcase in 2012, Bonfire’s showcase in 2013 – all took place a modest drive or a long walk from Austin’s bustling downtown, which is kind of where the musicians need to be to make an impact.

So big shoutouts this year to the RECPhilly crew and their partners at WhatScene? for putting together a Friday night show at SXSW 2015 that is (a) official and listed in the festival guide, (b) right in the thick of things on 6th Street and (c) all-Philly.

Performing at Old School Bar and Grill at 6th and Trinity on Friday, March 20th is a solid, mostly hip-hop lineup of up-and-comers and established Philly names: West Philly hero Freeway, infectious party rockers OCD: Moosh & Twist, the amazing Tunji Ige, the suave Chill Moody, the soulful Milton, blues-rock power trio Ill Fated Natives and many more.

Check out the full lineup in the show flyer below, and congrats again to the RECPhilly crew for putting this killer party together.
