Get to Union Transfer early tonight: twin cities rockers Hippo Campus will open the show for The Mowgli’s. Think of this young four-piece as the Vampire Weekend of the midwest; they incorporate lively Afro-beat melodies into fuzzy indie rock, nicely exemplified by “Suicide Saturday,” which you can download below. Their debut EP, Beautiful Creatures, was produced by Alan Sparhawk of Low. Tickets and more information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
Orange County pop-punk faves RX Bandits have been at it for 20 years, and tonight they headline The Trocadero. Over the years, their sound has spanned ska origins to the current prog-punk direction featured on 2014’s Gemini, Her Majesty, their seventh album. Joining them on the tour are emo revivial faves A Great Big Pile of Leaves and local punk scene faves Cayetana; tickets and more information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
Regional power pop faves Cold Fronts have been on tour this month, and it winds its way back home tonight with a gig at The Depot in York. The band’s full-length debut is still a work in progress, though they did record / release that awesome love song to Baby HAIM earlier this year. Take a listen below and get more info on the show here.
