Tiani Victoria officially released her debut mixtape Hard Candy this week, and wow – it is tight. The 15-track release is full of the artist’s unstoppable flow and smooth, crisp beats.

Opener track “Million Dollar Flow” kicks it off strong with laid back, classic hip hop vibes. The song was The Key’s original run-in with Tiani when she released it as a single a year ago, immediately putting her on our radar. Another quick favorite is her bumpin’ track “Marinate,” filled out with a danceworthy beat and eery vibes reminiscent of fellow Philadelphian Meek Mill.

“Is It A Crime” samples Sade’s classic track and lays Tiani’s smooth lines over top, creating a laidback, hip hop take on an R&B classic. Things turn up with “3 Tha Hard Way,” which features Philly talents Lady Merk and Lex Dime laying it out over a revisit of the 90’s classic by Philly hip hop artist Bahamadia. Combining the power of the three makes for a fresh track, with all three women spitting with finesse and power.

Upbeat and snare-heavy, “Blow My High” is easy to love, especially given the verse from Philly rap veteran Spade O. Closing out the record is the dominating track “The Symphony”, featuring Lean Bean, Lee Mazin, and Ms. Jade, where the four pass the mic around and show that they clearly know how to own a track.

It’s been a long time coming, but release only continues to get us excited for the future of Tiani Victoria. She produces a solid, well-crafted mixtape that not only showcases her talents but joins a conversation with a solid community of hip hop artists in the Philly scene, making it all well worth our wait. Keep the beats bumpin’ and the verses flowing, Tiani. We’re listening.

Stream the full album below and catch Tiani Victoria tomorrow night for a night of hip hop and R&B at the final night of Key Fest – she’s been teasing the show a lot on social media, and it looks like she’ll have a band in tow. For more information, head over to the XPN Concert Calendar.
