We’ve been anxiously awaiting the upcoming album release from Swedish singer-songwriter Kristian Matsson, otherwise known as The Tallest Man on Earth, and it’s now available for streaming over on NPR’s First Listen.
Scheduled for release on May 12, Dark Bird is Home marks Matsson’s latest release since 2012’s There’s No Leaving Now. NPR’s Andy Battaglia writes,
On Dark Bird Is Home, his fourth album and third on the discerning indie label Dead Oceans, the Tallest Man starts out in a downbeat and doleful mode, with his elemental basics set quietly against occasional washes of sad synthesizer that spread the sound far and wide.
The lyrics for the album’s title track were recently posted on The Tallest Man on Earth’s Facebook page. Matsson croons, “When there is no one on the bottom / you got there alone / kicking up some dust / where a wind could blow.”
Matsson’s upcoming tour marks his first ever with a full band, and he’s scheduled for the Tower Theater on May 16. He’ll also be at XPN’s Non-COMM-vention earlier that week; tickets and more information on that can be found here. Listen to There’s No Leaving Now in its entirety here, and preview a couple streaming tracks below.
