We celebrate the DIY spirit of Philadelphia’s music scene a lot here at The Key, and now Drexel’s Mad Dragon Music Group has organized an opportunity to learn where that spirit was born with a screening of the new documentary Salad Dayson May 21st. The event takes place at the URBN Annex Black Box Theater, followed by a Q&A session with the film’s creators and a live set by locals Mumblr.

Salad Days looks at the influential years of punk music in Washington, D.C., detailing the genre’s rise between 1980 and 1990. It incorporates interviews with scene heavyweights and the musicians who would follow in their footsteps, never-before-seen footage of concerts and behind-the-scenes photography by Jim Saah.

Watch the trailer for the doc below and check out Mumblr’s latest video for “Got It” from last year’s Full of Snakes LP. More information for the event can be found here.
