Leon Bridges transported the crowd to a place where swing, bop and smooth grooves ruled the airways. Taking his performance to World Cafe Live upstairs, everyone was moving as the Fort Worth Texan and his accompanying band brought the funk to Philly.

Going through a medley of singles that will be released on his debut album Coming Home on June 23rd,it seemed that the title track was the one that really shook up the upstairs crowd and had everyone singing along.

“Shine” and the beautifully aesthetic “Brown Skin Girl” brought out Bridges’ charisma and added more energy to an already-existing set that seemed to spew it in every angle.

He dazzled in a performance that showed him resemble the onstage elegance of the classic Temptations as well as the modern funk and swagger of Bruno Mars. Somewhere in the middle is where this fun artist sits, and his performance proves it.
