The Dan and Dan Music Podcast recently sat down with the Philadelphia Hip Hop legend Schoolly D to discuss some pretty big topics in an hour-long interview.  The proclaimed father of gangster rap covered a plethora of topics that included the changing sound of hip-hop along with his own creative output and individuals like 60 Minutes’ Ed Bradley that played a bigger role in his career than one might think.

Schoolly D was off-the-cuff in the interview, and seemed like he had a lot to say.  With a confidence and a knack for explaining his creative vision (not unlike Kanye West), Schoolly didn’t bite his tongue for some of Dan and Dan’s more pressing questions.  “I’m not a rapper, I’m an artist,” he states right off the bat. Later, in discussing the state of hip-hop today, he says “The whole culture was an actual culture, I’m both happy and sad that it’s pop now.”

Perhaps one of the most interesting and perceptive interviews yet from WXPN’s Dan Reed and the Philadelphia Inquirer’s Dan DeLuca, the latest Dan and Dan Podcastis a must-listen. Be sure to check out the entire interview below and subscribe to the podcast here.
