This week for World Cafe’s Sense of Place Philly, we brought you videos, free downloads and exclusive interviews with up-and-coming Philly artists. In case you missed out, here’s a recap.

Punk indie rockers Cayetana have been shaking the scene with the release of their debut album Nervous Like Me last year. The trio, comprised of members Kelly Olsen, Allegra Anka, and Augusta Koch, have become one of the most talked-about acts in the city. We were able to talk to them about the inclusiveness of the scene and hear an awesome set of music. You can download the entire thing below.

Although not originally from the Philadelphia area, Waxahatchee‘s Kate and Allison Crutchfield have found a solace in the music the city has to offer and have relocated, as many musicians have, to be a part of the burgeoning music community. Kate Crutchfield calls their latest album Ivy Trip a “natural progression” from 2013’s well-received Cerulean Salt. Here she discusses her initiation into the Philadelphia scene and performs a full set with her band.

West Philly natives Dr. Dog formed in 2001 and has since gained a large regional following due to Toby Leaman and Scott McMicken’s song writing prowess. The band performed at last week’s NON-COMMvention and you can stream the set here.

Rock four-piece Pine Barons spent last winter on tour with The Districts, and similarly their music is shaped by raw live energy and the sounds of classic rock and roll. The band is currently working on their follow up to their tastefully lo-fi debut, but in the mean time you can download the premiere of their new song “Clowns” by right-clicking here. As World Cafe described, the track draws inspiration from early Beatles, Built To Spill, and Weezer-esque power pop.

Hop Along might have started with a more mellow folky sound back in 2004, but now there is nothing soft about this indie-rock quartet. The group performed songs off their latest effort Painted Shut and frontwomanFrances Quinlan discussed inspirations for the songs and being in the band with her sibling, drummer Mark Quinlan here.
