Singer-songwriter Martin Sexton stopped by World Cafe Live today, on tour in support of his new Mixtape of the Open Road, out now on his own Kitchen Table Records. He headlines World Cafe Live at the Queen tonight, but for Free at Noon today, he gave the audience a taste of what’s in store at the show, playing a few songs from the new record, as well as old tracks spanning the length of his career since 1991.

Sexton is known for his sugary, lighthearted performances, featuring his dynamic vocal range and improvisational skills. Frustrated with the music surrounding his youth, he made a point to fuel his passion on the sounds of classic American music. His style blends genres that formed the backbone of American music, such as gospel, soul, blues, and rock. His voice comes in truly boundless shades, ensuring a unique performance every time.

And let’s not forget his awesome beatboxing. He could be a one-man band if he wanted to! Check out the setlist and photos and listen back to the intimate set below, and get details on tonight’s show at the XPN Concert Calendar.
