Amos Lee talks Red Rocks, Philly restaurants, and his career so far with WXPN’s Dan Reed

With his first-ever live album about to come out, Philadelphia singer-songwriter Amos Lee dropped by Dan Reed’s show on WXPN this week for a wide-ranging interview. He talked about what it was like translating a performance to a record for Live At Red Rocks, due out Tuesday, and shares his feelings on playing the iconic Colorado venue. (“It’s kind of a must-go.”)

He also reflected on his career path – how he started out playing the open mic circuit at The Fire and The Tin Angel, eventually getting signed to Blue Note Records in the wake of Norah Jones’ success, something he said was met with no shortage of pressure and preconceptions. “It’s been a long process,” he told Reed. “But it took a really nice shape last year,” with the touring behind Mountains of Sorrow, Rivers of Song.

He also remembered his old boss at Blue Note, Bruce Lundvall, who passed away in May at age 79, and shares his favorite Philly restaurant, favorite current music and his thoughts about the current Eagles roster.
