Local singer-songwriter Ben Kessler performs at Tin Angel tonight. Though he’s still in high school, Kessler has already released a handful of EPs, sold out a show in Chicago and won the Philadelphia Songwriters Project competition last year. He’ll be performing some new, unreleased songs tonight in addition to fan favorites from last year’s So It Goes. Listen to “These Days” below and pick up tickets to the show here.

Shannen Moser opens up for Spelling Reform at Ortlieb’s tonight. The Philadelphia resident has been releasing music on her Bandcamp since 2012, most recently sharing the acoustic / lo-fi collection you shouldn’t be doing that. Tickets and information for the 21+ show can be found here. Listen to “witch hunt” below.

Active Child performs at World Cafe Live with Icelandic trio Low Roar. Pat Grossi is touring in support of his sophomore LP Mercy, which will be released next Tuesday. It follows up 2011’s hook-laden debut You Are All I See, a record that wove transcendent synth pop with R&B rhythms. Stream Mercy via Pandora here and listen to “Stranger” below. Tickets and information can be found here.
