Courtney Barnett | Tajette Ohalloran

XPN Fest artist Courtney Barnett joined Bob Boilen on this week’s episode of All Songs Considered to guest DJ and talk about some of the songs that have inspired her musical career. Coming off her critically acclaimed debut LP, Sometimes I Sit and Think, and Sometimes I Just Sit, Barnett explained her writing habits and some of her influences in and outside of music, including the influence her family and friends have had on her career so far.

Bands like Wilco, the Talking Heads, and various Australian artists have helped create the witty lyricism and conversational singing that Barnett has gained so much praise for. The Melbourne native is one of the most exciting young acts in music and her debut will most certainly finish as one of the best albums of the year. It shouldn’t be any surprise that she is one of the most anticipated acts on the bill of this upcoming Xponential Music Fest.

Still haven’t heard the debut album? Get on it. You can get the album on her website, on iTunes, or stream it on Spotify. Oh and while you’re on Spotify, why not take a look at our #XPNFest Spotify Playlist? That will give you all the tunes you need to get ready for the festival. Speaking of the festival, Barnett is slated to play on Sunday the 26th at Wiggins Park. Tickets and more information can be found here. And as for the guest DJ set, you can check out the NPR session below.
