Barn rock band Tin Bird Choir headline Burlap and Bean Coffee this evening. Though their latest album was released in the summer of 2013, they recently covered the Rolling Stone’s “Sway” and have promised an enticing setlist. Tin Bird Choir will be joined by Elspeth Tremblay & the Satellites and Ginger Coyle for a night of Philly area folk. For tickets to the Philadelphia Folk Society and Dull Dime-presented show, head over to the XPN Concert Calendar, and be sure to listen to their cover of “Sway” below.

Post-hardcore troupe Planes Mistaken for Stars play Boot & Saddle tonight with Hells and VVeed VVolf. Though PMFS broke up in 2007, they have since reunited to play shows, reissue their 2006 album Mercy and roll out new material. See for yourself at their 21+ show tonight and listen to their song “Crooked Mile” below.

Kaoru Ishibashi brings his project Kishi Bashi to Musikfest Café as tonight’s opener for Guster. Getting his start as a violinist for the likes of Regina Spektor and of Montreal, Ishibashi’s solo material can best be described as psychedelic pop, similar in nature to Andrew Bird‘s. Listen to “Philosophize In It! Chemicalize With It!” below, and get tickets for the show here.

Satellite Hearts at Ortlieb’s (9 p.m., $10, 21+)

Ruby the Hatchet at Underground Arts (8 p.m., $12, 21+)
