Philly indie-folk duo Driftwood Solder – Owen Lyman-Schmidt and Bobby Szafranski – started in 2013 when Owen met Bobby and they decided to start a band together. Lyman-Schmidt plays mandolin and Szafranski accompanies him on bass and percussion, and together on their debut full length, Scavenger’s Joy, they create gutbucket styled, blues informed songs.
Driftwood Soldier are playing at Philly’s newest warehouse space Bond Villain with My Son Bison and the Portland duo Strangled Darlings on September 17th. It’s a free show and the first live performance at Bond Villain, located near 7th and Thompson Streets.
Below, download “Found,” and watch the new video for the song. On it, Lyman-Schmidt sings like a bluesy version of Nick Cave, with a nod to Tom Waits.
