Laura Stevenson’s newest single, “Claustrophobe” falls somewhere between country ballad and punk jam, a sound that she works with surprising ease. Released today, it’s the third single from Stevenson’s album Cocksure, which is set to come out on October 30 via Don Giovanni Records.

“Claustrophobe,” which you can check out below, takes some of the folk-rock characteristics present in Stevenson’s previous work and infuses an attitude that says she is a bit rougher around the edges than previously imagined — which is a compliment. The track and album have a distinctly raw feeling, likely due to most of the songs being recorded live.

Laura Stevenson and her band are making their way to the Philly area while touring Cocksure, stopping by The Fillmore’s Foundry stage on November 19. Tickets and more information on the show can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
