Tonight’s Concert Picks: Melody Gardot at The Merriam Theater, Marco Benevento at Underground Arts and Goddamnit at The Fire

Melody Gardot has built an impressive resume for someone just now hitting their third decade. The Philadelphia-based jazz and blues singer has been nominated for a Grammy and has been compare to legendary singers like Nina Simone and Judy Garland. Experimental jazz musician Marco Benevento implements a wide-variety of instruments in wider sound, a technique that he will feature tonight during his show at Underground Arts. Philly-based band Goddamnit describe the group’s music as “post-punkmocore”, and whatever that means, one thing is for sure, these guys rock. The Fishtown band will take their high-energy rock and roll to The Fire Philly tonight with fellow Philly area rockers Diff’rent Folks, Line Leader and Glenn Mattews.
