Philadelphia indiepop five-piece, Mercury Girls recently set up shop in in a small studio in West Philly, recording its entire live set just for fun. What resulted was an energy-fueled performance that frontman Kevin Attics told us needed to be heard. “Collisions” is a track that has yet to find a place in any of the band’s upcoming releases, but as Attics says: “we feel really strongly about it and wanted to share it anyways.” The song, about gaining independence from a toxic relationship, is fun and poppy with a bite. Listen to the song below.

If you’re heading up to the CMJ Music Marathon in New York this week, you can catch Mercury Girls  at the Kanine Records showcase on Wednesday, October 14th. The next day, Mercury Girls is back in Philly playing Bourbon and Branch with Eternal Summers, then will set up shop at PhilaMOCA on October 29th for a gig with Joanna Greusome. Tickets and more information on the shows can be found at the XPN Concert Calendar.
