Garden Gate debuts with spooky Houses

Brown Recluse‘s Tim Meskers has embarked on a new project called Garden Gate, which will have its debut full-length release early next year on Good Behavior Records. This week, though, we get a timely preview with the three-song collection Houses.

The trio of songs on Houses create a colorful timewarp that is part dark, psychedelic baroqueand part spacey sci-fi, bridging the worlds of Mystery!, silent horror film scores and Disney’s Grim Grinning Ghosts. Outside of the seasonal motif, the songs are cinematic and captivating. There is certainly a 60s influence, with Meskers’ vocals shrouded behind carnival-esque instrumentation that swirls around like a carousel.
