Fresh off their June 2015 release Before The World Was Big, punk duo Girlpool is somehow already debuting new material. The group recently performed their new track “Soup” for PressureDrop.tv in San Francisco.

Originally hailing from Los Angeles, Girlpool (made up of guitarist Cleo Tucker and bassist Harmony Tividad) decided to cross the country and make Philadelphia their home in January. Although Tucker and Tividad are now officially east-coasters, their brand of stripped-down punk (the band records all of their music without drums) is still informed by a laid back, sunny California vibe.

On “Soup,” a short track that ends before you even realize what’s hit you, Girlpool maintains the leisurely tempo that characterized much of Before The World Was Big before building to an angst-filled unison vocal climax between Tucker and Tividad.
Listen to “Soup” courtesy of PressureDrop.tv below and check out Girlpool’s Key Studio Session from April. Girlpool performs at Alex G’s album release show November 14th at the First Unitarian Church: get tickets and information on the show at the XPN Concert Calendar.
