Philly rockers DRGN King went on tour in support of their latest LP, Baltimore Crush, earlier this year, and made that pilgrimage to Rock Island, Illinois, to visit Daytrotter Studios. It was their second visit to the studio (check out 2013’s session here) and the first with the current lineup of Ricardo Lagomasino on drums and Lucy Stone on bass.

The set included a great song called “Ageism Rules” that the band has been playing in live sets and radio sessions for at least half the year; it’s a biting ode to getting oder in a cultural community, and the frustration that we all get when there’s a new crop of cool young kids each passing year.

Says the band of the experience:

The town and studio were almost completely dead; everyone was at South By Southwest. After the session, i ate a dangerously huge catfish sandwich and we drove to Chicago. Six months later, here it is. There’s a song here that we’ll probably never release and it’s not on Baltimore Crush so this is probably the only place you’ll hear “Ageism Rules.”
