New Jersey’s Screaming Females have had quite the year: they released their sixth album back in February, they toured Europe and the US, and they celebrated their tenth anniversary and 1,000th show. With all this momentum, the punk rock trio show no signs of slowing down. They just hit the road this week with Potty Mouth for a two week tour, which makes a stop in Pennsylvania’s capital tonight at the Harrisburg Midtown Arts Center. Ryan “Gooch” Nelson wasn’t always a blues musician. He started playing drums and bass from age 12 and dreamed of being a rock musician. At age 18, he was injured in an accident, which left him a C7 quadriplegic. After a few months of rehabilitation, he was able to play slide guitar. After a few years of playing in various groups, he started Gooch and the Motion last year. Read the interview we did with Gooch here. Get ticket and show info at the XPN Concert Calendar, and listen to Gooch’s rich, velvety voice below.
Mahatma X is an up-and-coming producer trio from Philly. Listening to their music, I can tell that these guys are going to be big. The way they blend samples with their instruments creates this tremendous flow, which isn’t too easy to come by in Philly these days. Catch them at the Fire tonight; get show information here, and listen to their most recent release, The Soul Dynamic, below.
