The Chip Breakers have been making big moves this year. Following the release of their self-titled EP in March, the folk-rock trio added a stand-up bass to their live set, recorded and released a single, and started a video series called Single Cardioid Sessions. The Chip Breakers performed the new single, “Motor Driven Cycles,” as the first installment of the series.

The video, filmed by The Key contributing photographer Hope Helmuth, begins with a very dramatic attempt to carry an upright bass up a flight of stairs and over a balcony. The three Chip Breakers complete this task with a confident ease as the title of the video appears in the center of the screen. The rest of the video features the band surrounding a single cardioid microphone (hence the name of the series) and playing “Motor Driven Cycles.” The camera zooms into the intricacy of each instrument and then pans out for a wide shot of the band.

Along with starting this video series, The Chip Breakers are in the process of writing and recording a new EP. Keep an eye on their Facebook page for updates and show announcements, and listen to “Motor Driven Cycles” below.
