Songwriter Ben Hughes – currently of indie rockers Night Windows, formerly of the three-piece group A Little Affair – just dropped the second-to-last album in his ambitious project to release one album over the course of the entire year. November’s record, aptly titled Ben Hughes, consists mainly of songs that Hughes wrote all the way back in 2006. As Hughes described the recording process:

When I had all the song structures set, I rerecorded the songs, put them in a final sequence, and called it an album. I made countless, what I now consider, practice or demo albums during 2006 & 2007. This is a collection made from a few of those albums

As much as it stressed me out keeping all of these albums to myself over the years, it was well worth making them if even just for the lessons I learned. Each album gave me more songwriting experience while providing a positive outlet for artistic expression, and for that, I’m forever grateful.

To celebrate the project’s completion in December, Hughes will be playing a 21+ show on December 2nd at MilkBoy where he’ll play some of his favorite songs he’s recorded over the course of the year. You can get tickets for the show over at the XPN Concert Calendar.
